Absences & Tardies

Illness/excused absences do not excuse classwork, pop-quizzes, quizzes, tests, participation, homework, and the like.  Rather, one day for each day absent will be given to students to make up the work, but the work must be submitted or no grade can be submitted for assignments.

  • Absences

    • Do your very best to be present each day.

    • Be responsible—find out what you missed from a buddy or see me after school immediately. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

    • I need students to communicate with me to keep me informed of their situations with excused absences and discuss a reasonable deadline that works for both student and teacher.  One day for each day out is the general rule.

    • Make up quizzes and tests will need to be done after school.

    • As a general rule, classwork and homework will not be given in advance.

    • When you return, you must take responsibility to turn in your work.  Please see me if you don't know where to submit it.

    • Excused absences do not excuse classwork, homework, projects, participation, and such.  This means that assignments must still be completed and turned in (submitted) or no grade can be given.

    • Trimester deadlines are true deadlines—I cannot add grades past the deadline.

  • Tardies

    • Do your best to be present on time each day.

    • You’ll be counted tardy if you are not sitting in your seat with your "Ready Desk" by the time the second bell rings.

    • First and second tardies will receive a warning.

    • Three or more tardies will result in detention and/or conference with administration and parents.
